Currency is a Sea of Green

Hello EMD users,

As you may have noticed, the data currency on the site has turned from a sickly yellow to a sea of green, meaning the average market order is no older than 15 minutes old from its last time of update.

This is part of Phase 1 in our 4 Phase plan to roll out a new and improved EMD. If this is helping you to make better market decisions, make more profits, or just makes you happy, please consider donating to your favorite market website (aka EMD) to help pay for the servers and its talented developers.

We will now chug forward on the second part of Phase 1, as well as fixing bugs here and there as well as minor overall improvements. We hope that you are as excited as we are for what’s to come!

EMD 1.0

Hello EMD users,

tl;dr: Major improvements coming, such as current data and a better user experience. Please donate to support the site’s development and server costs.

Data is large, fast, and valuable. Many derive value from it through extensive analysis, while others simply give it a glance and go. Regardless of the kind of analysis someone performs on data, many agree on one point: data is power.

The website has been breaking under the stress of bugs and Ascension release with Alpha Clones and the increased use of citadels. Many of you have expressed disappointment, but were hopeful that all would become fixed and smooth once more. I am here to announce that the hope you have is well-founded, as there is now a roadmap in place with myself and a couple of talented developers to not only fix what is wrong, but make it better, faster, and more reliable. Expect major changes in the coming weeks. Some of the most notable changes will include:

  • More current market data, with >80% of data being up to 30 minute freshness
  • Faster response times to page requests.
  • UI redesign
    • A more pleasant user experience
  • API optimization; speed increases.

I will be pushing regular updates as we implement phases of the roadmap, which will lead to Eve-MarketData 1.0. While we undergo this, I again ask you as users to please help us pay for the server costs, and once you see sustainable improvements, increase those donations to help pay for the developers’ time. This can be achieved through paypal donations and in-game isk donations respectively. We’re excited to show you our work and what’s to come. Stay tuned!

Website fixes and improvements

Hello EMD users,

Some of you may have noticed that the site was not getting data for several hours. We recently implemented a patch that caused several things to bug out and explode. We have now rectified these issues. Should any new issues arrive, please eve-mail Suzee Sasen in-game.

This patch was to deal with the issue of a substantial increase in market volume (about 50% increase) since the release of Ascension. You should notice a speed increase with the website. Next, some item orders were not showing up, such as the Apostle. The issue was found and fixed. Let us know if anything is still not showing up, not including Citadel orders since that data isn’t available to us yet. We will be working on getting data currency more towards realtime, as the increase in order volume has slowed the currency on our end.

I would like to take the chance to thank a couple of large donors that donated recently. Thanks to them, they paid off the remainder of last month and contributed a portion towards this month. You know who you are. Everyone else, please continue to donate or do so if you haven’t yet. We need those donations to keep the site clear of ads and more importantly, to pay the server costs.

Stay tuned for a roadmap of new features, coming soon™

Happy New Year Update

Happy new year EMD users!

I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday season and hope for a good new year to us all. Here’s some brief updates regarding the website and donations.

We have recently onboarded another developer who will be tasked with hunting down some issues that have been persisting, such as some price data not showing up. Additionally, we are very close to rolling out some major changes to the backend. This will allow us to easily work on the site and debug problems going forward.

On the donation side, donations were short this month, causing me to have to pay $30 out of pocket. Please donate if you haven’t yet, as this money pays for the server to keep the website running and lets us pay our devs for their hard work. I’ve been thinking of implementing ad banners. I don’t want to do this (keeping a clean site is wonderful) but I will do what is necessary to keep the site running. If you use the site and find it helpful, please donate. For those that have, big or small, I cannot thank you enough.

Happy New Year!
